Many mechanical installations lend themselves to being supported using Gripple Hangers. The Hangers can be directly fixed onto the services or used to suspend dedicated support systems. A tailor-made solution service is available to devise specific solutions for a project.

Typical mechanical applications include - Ducting, pipes, chill beams, ceiling panels, heating panels, radiant heaters

Ductwork - Rectangular

rectangular ductwork and fans

Rectangular duct is one of the most common services to be suspended using Gripple hangers. The hangers can be attached to bearers, fastening points on the duct if available, or used in a cradle method. Each of these methods is illustrated below.

direct support

Gripple hangers can be secured directly on to the ductwork joint flanges or stiffeners. Shown on the right, rectangular duct and a stainless steel fan unit.

trapeze bearer support

Gripple hangers can be used to suspend the bearers that form the support for rectangular ductwork. In the picture to the left, a No 2 stud fixing is used to draw the duct against the ceiling.

cradle support

A single Gripple hanger can be used to form a cradle around the duct. In the example below, a stud fixing is secured into the concrete ceiling. The wire rope is passed around the duct and secured at the other end into a threaded adaptor. Corner saddles are used on the underside of the duct and then the cradle is adjusted for final positioning.

Ductwork - Spiral

speed, lightness and versatility

Gripple hangers are ideal for suspending spiral ductwork. The lightness, flexibility, ease of use and adjustment all contribute to reduced installation times and cost savings.

'wrap - around' installation method

This is the quickest, easiest and most cost effective method of suspending spiral duct as it only requires a single anchor point and suspension. This method eliminates the need for any additional expensive brackets whilst retaining all the safety aspects any suspension requires.

This method will be at least six times quicker than traditional suspensions, and eliminates the weight disadvantages of using threaded rod.

cradle suspension method

A simple yet highly effective alternative method to suspend spiral duct. Has the advantage of using two top anchor points which allow the duct to be suspended virtually anywhere, irrespective of the construction of the building. As there is only one Gripple hanger used for each suspension, it provides invaluable time saving and cost benefits.
The cradle method will also allow the duct to be positioned as close to the ceiling of a building as is required, therefore eliminating the need for expensive brackets.
Ceiling clips, threaded adaptors and stud fixings can all be used in concrete buildings.

Fan Coil Units

hangers for all parts of the ventilation system

Gripple hangers provide a simple and cost effective method of supporting fan coil units in all types of buildings.
In industrial buildings loop fixing hangers can be used to secure fan coil units directly from the purlins. In office buildings, stud fixing hangers can be used to fasten directly into a concrete ceiling - shown on the right (metal decking).

4-point anchor method

Gripple hangers can be secured directly onto the fixing points found on the fan coil unit casing. A 4-point anchor method is typically used.

'wrap - around' method

Alternatively, the Gripple hanger can be wrapped around the ductwork adjacent to the fan coil units. Corner saddles are used to keep the wire rope in position

vertical or angled use

Gripple hangers can easily be anchored at an angle to support fan coil units in circumstances where access is limited due to obstructions from other services.

Space Heaters

radiant, infra-red and chilled beam units

Gripple hangers are an exceptionally practical means of suspending a wide range of heaters. The hanger can be secured directly onto the casing of the heater unit using appropriate manufacturer's brackets.

infra-red heaters/gas radiant

These types of heater are used in many industrial buildings. They are quickly and economically suspended with Gripple hangers. The range of end fixings allows the hanger to be attached to any ceiling type.

radiant panels

This is another type of heater that can be supported with Gripple hangers. The ease of adjustment of the Gripple system is a major benefit when positioning panels in suspended ceilings.

chilled beams

These are often fixed close to the ceiling in confined spaces. The ease of use and flexibility of the Gripple hanger system makes it an ideal method to support this type of unit.
